UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins had to work a little longer for their fifth consecutive victory.

Brandon Sutter scored once in regulation before providing the lone shootout tally in the Pens' 4-3 win over the Rangers in New York. Pittsburgh took a 3-1 lead on goals by Pascal Dupuis (doo-PWEE') and Sutter 61 seconds apart early in the third period, but the Rangers eventually tied the game on Derick Brassard's goal with 1:46 left in regulation.

Sidney Crosby leads the NHL with 49 points after collecting two assists in the Pens' 10th victory in 11 games. Pittsburgh leads the Eastern Conference by three points over Boston.

The Rangers are 1-3-2 on their nine-game homestand.

Also on ice, Jaromir Jagr (YAH'-roh-meer YAH'-gur) has moved into sole possession of eighth place on the NHL's all-time goal-scoring list while helping the New Jersey Devils earn a 5-2 win against Ottawa. Jagr's power-play goal put the Devils ahead 3-0 just over two minutes into the second period. It was his 693rd career goal, moving him ahead of Steve Yzerman (EYE'-zur-mihn).

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding has been placed on injured reserve to give him time to make adjustments to medication for multiple sclerosis. General manager Chuck Fletcher says Harding feels great and looks forward to rejoining the Wild for their game in Winnipeg on Dec. 27.

He's gone 18-5-3 and leads the NHL with a 1.51 goals-against average and .939 save percentage.

NEW YORK (AP) — Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland has been suspended for five games without pay by the NHL for a check to the head of Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader (AB'-dul-kay-dur). Engelland was given a match penalty for hitting Abdelkader in the first period of Pittsburgh's 4-1 road victory Saturday night.
