Ovechkin Scores Two In His Return – NHL Roundup For Nov. 6th
UNDATED (AP) — Alex Ovechkin (oh-VECH'-kin) returned from a shoulder injury to score his 11th and 12th goals of the season, and the Washington Capitals rode a second-period flurry to a 6-2 win over the New York Islanders.
After being sidelined for two games, Ovechkin scored twice on the power play in a five-goal second period for the Capitals. Washington has won three straight to move over .500 for the first time this season.

— Zach Parise (puh-REE'-see) scored twice and Josh Harding continued his dominance in goal to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 5-1 victory over the Calgary Flames. Harding has won five straight in goal and leads the NHL with a 1.10 goals-against average and .950 save percentage.
__ Antoine Vermette scored the deciding goal in the shootout for the second straight game and the Phoenix Coyotes won their fifth in a row, 3-2 over Vancouver.
— Erik Karlsson scored two goals, and backup goalie Robin Lehner made 32 saves to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 4-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets to end a five-game losing streak.
__ Ex-Bruins Tyler Seguin (SAY'-gihn) and Rich Peverley scored in a shootout against their former team and lifted the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win over Boston.
— Mark Arcobello scored his second goal in overtime and the Edmonton Oilers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Florida.
__ Carolina rallied to edge Philadelphia 2-1 in overtime. Manny Malhotra got the game-winner in OT. Jared Staal forced OT with a goal in the final minute of regulation.
__ St. Louis edged Montreal 3-2 in a shootout. T.J. Oshie scored the only goal in the shootout. The Canadiens have lost three straight.
__ The Buffalo Sabres notched their third victory in 17 games by winning at San Jose 5-4 in a shootout. That's the Sharks' third straight loss. Cody Hodgson scored the deciding goal in the shootout.
TORONTO (AP) — Jason Arnott has retired after 18 seasons of NHL play. He last played in the game at the end of the 2011-'12 season. Arnott was the seventh overall pick of the 1993 draft by Edmonton. He would up playing for six NHL clubs and was on the gold medal-winning Canadian team at the 1994 World Championships.
