Zenith Education Group announced today that it will be closing the WyoTech campus in Laramie.

In a statement, Zenith said it will be closing all but three of its campuses. Zenith will limit admission of new students to three of its Altierus Career College campuses. The remaining 21 WyoTech and Altierus campuses will be closed.

The campuses will stop enrolling new students and the campuses will be “taught out,” allowing the 5,400 students on the 21 campuses to complete their programs.

Of the closures, Zenith said the closures are part of a “new phase in delivering on its mission of helping students succeed.”

“Zenith will limit admission of new students to three Altierus Career College campuses, allowing for increased focus on the most effective initiatives and innovative ideas that provide underserved students with the best opportunities for career success,” the statement said.

Zenith said the closures come after the company underwent a phase-out of programs with poor graduation and poor placement outcomes.

“Over the past few years, it has become evident to us that many of our campuses are located in areas that are geographically inconvenient for underserved students or not built to accommodate the programs that we want and need to offer,” Zenith said in the statement.

Zenith says they will focus on a three-campus approach to provide students with academic and job placement outcomes.

The three Altierus campuses that will remain open are located in Tampa, Florida; Norcross, Georgia and the Bissonnet campus in Houston, Texas.

WyoTech officials were not immediately available for comment on the closure.
