Official Raises Ethics Concerns After Truck Loaned to Mayor
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming councilman has raised concerns about possible ethics laws violations after a dealership loaned a truck to a mayor.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Thursday that Mayor Marian Orr was loaned a Dodge truck with her name and title written on the doors to use during Cheyenne Frontier Days, a rodeo and western festival.
Cheyenne Council President Rocky Case says law prohibits public officials from accepting gifts with values above $250.
State law says public officials can't use their "office or position for the receipt of a gift which resulted from his holding that office."
Orr says the truck is not a gift so the matter is a nonissue.
She says she is only using the truck for Cheyenne Frontier Days events and the dealership is paying for fuel.
