Newcastle Youth Dies in Single Car Crash
A 15 year old Newcastle resident was killed and his 16 year old passenger was injured Sunday afternoon in a single car rollover in Weston County.
Wyoming Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Townsend says a vehicle driven by 15 year old Wyatt Pillen of Newcastle was eastbound on Wyoming Highway 450 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car. Townsend says Pillen over corrected twice before the vehicle went off the side of the road and rolled 1 1/2 times.
Both Pillen and his passenger, 16 year old Vincent Oedekoven of Newcastle, were ejected from the vehicle. Pillen was rushed to Denver Children's Hospital in Colorado, where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 Monday morning. Oedekoven was sent to Scottsbluff Regional West Medical Center in Nebraska, where his condition is unknown.
Townsend says neither Pillen nor Oedekoven were wearing seat belts. He says the accident remains under investigation
