A new report by Western Resource Advocates and Trout Unlimited shows that Wyoming can be well-prepared for the future when it comes to water supply and demand. The report suggests that the water needs of residents in the Platte River Basin can be met through 2035 without the need for costly new infrastructure and sacrificing Wyoming's Wildlife habitat. The report outlines four solutions that will help insure water supply for the future in the Platte River Basin. Increase water conservation, optimize water reuse, and develop smart structural water projects, but only after full and efficient use of existing water supplies. Water policy analyst, Jorge Figueroa speaks on how these initiatives can positively affect the environment:

Figueroa also says that in order for the findings of the report to be substantive, there must be a concerted effort towards water conservation.
