(AP) — Wesley Matthews' 3-pointer put Portland in front with 26.9 seconds left and the Trail Blazers hung on to beat the Miami Heat 92-90. It was the fourth straight win for Portland and ninth straight at the Rose Garden.

The Blazers held LeBron James to 15 points, snapping his 54-game streak with at least 20 points that dated back to last season. The Eastern Conference leading Heat have lost five of their last eight.

Nicolas Batum paced Portland with 28 points. Chris Bosh led Miami with 29.

Around the rest of the NBA;

— Paul George scored seven of his 24 points in a 13-0 fourth-quarter run, leading Indiana past the short-handed New York Knicks 81-76. New York played without leading scorer Carmelo Anthony who was sitting out a one-game suspension handed down by the NBA.

— O.J. Mayo scored 24 points and Vince Carter added 23 to help Dallas rally from 17 points down to beat Sacramento 117-112 in overtime. The win snapped the Mavericks four-game losing streak.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (VEHR'-eh-zhow) had surgery to repair a split leg muscle, an injury that could sideline him two more months.

Varejao had the operation on Thursday at The Cleveland Clinic.

The NBA's leading rebounder has been sidelined since getting hurt against Toronto on Dec. 18. His injury was initially believed to be just a bad bruise, but further testing revealed that the quadriceps muscle tore near his right knee.

Varejao was averaging 14.1 points and 14.4 rebounds when he got hurt.
