A Denver man charged with possession of liquid heroin has received a split sentence.

Jason Alexander Koste, 42, was sentenced to one year in the Albany County Detention Center with credit for time served, after which he will serve out a five-year supervised probation term.

Judge Tori Kricken also ordered Koste to complete a level 3.5 drug treatment program, which she said was imperative in order for Koste to avoid a drug relapse.

Koste was arrested in August 2016 for driving under the influence. A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper saw Koste’s car, which was missing its driver-side mirror, cross the fog line multiple times as it drove eastbound on I-80 near mile post 310, according to the affidavit.

The trooper stopped Kotse and conducted a search of the vehicle and found 5.2 grams of heroin in solid form, three syringes loaded with suspected heroin, a digital scale, multiple small baggies with suspected heroin, 28.6 grams of hash oil and several boxes of baggies both opened and unopened.
