SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah authorities have arrested a man who police say faces charges in connection to multiple sexual assaults and rapes across two states.

KUTV-TV reports that 69-year-old Mark Burns was arrested last week and denied bail during his first court appearance Monday.

Authorities say Burns has not entered a plea after being charged with sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary and robbery in sexual misconduct cases between 1994 and 2001.

Authorities say DNA evidence led police to link Burns to at least nine cases in Utah and Wyoming and police believe there may be more victims in other states.

Authorities say Burns is expected to remain behind bars until at least mid-October.

An attorney listed for Burns did not immediately return a request for comment.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16.
