A former local business owner who returned to Laramie for Jubilee Days was stabbed early Sunday morning in an incident she says was racially motivated.

The Laramie Police Department says officers responded to the 600 block of Mitchell at 3 a.m. Sunday morning to investigate a reported stabbing.

Officers reportedly found and cared for the victim until a Laramie Fire Department ambulance arrived.

The victim, whose name is excluded from this report for their safety, was hospitalized but had returned home Monday. She details some of her injuries in a public Facebook post.

The victim says she was one of a group of four people, all of them black, who were attacked. Two of the people reportedly reside in Laramie.

According to a Laramie Police Department news release, 21-year-old Sidney P. King of Laramie was arrested in connection with the incident and is charged with aggravated assault and battery. If convicted, King could spend up to 10 years in prison.

The Albany County Detention Center declined to release King's booking photo Monday, pending King's initial appearance in Albany County Circuit Court.

We will update this story as more information is made available.
