Kujala and Handy Will Not Return To The Cowgirls
The Wyoming Cowgirls are losing two players after head coach Joe Legerski announced Tuesday that Riikka Kujala and Daley Handy are leaving the program.
Both have decided to pursue other opportunities.
Kujala played in 47 games over the past two seasons. She averaged 0.8 points per game and dished out 16 total assists while playing 8.6 minutes per game last season.
Handy was injured prior to her freshman season and took a redshirt. She appeared in only 10 games during only season and scored four total points.
Legerski said in a release from the University of Wyoming,
“Both players have excelled in the classroom and as teammates in this program. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Wyoming’s only recruit during this year’s class is forward Sladana Rakovic, who was recently named a NJCAA All-American after her sophomore season at Western Nebraska Community College. The departures of Kujala and Handy opens a pair of scholarships for UW to fill.
