Winter Storm Warning Area In SE Wyoming Expanded
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has expanded a Winter Storm Warning to include more areas of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle.
The expanded warning area now includes the summit between Cheyenne and Laramie, which was originally only under a less severe Winter Storm Watch
Meanwhile, a High Wind Watch has also been issued for some areas, including Cheyenne.
The agency posted the following on its website:
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for northern Sioux and Dawes counties where the highest snowfall amounts will be focused on the Pine Ridge High Wind Watch has been expanded to include the rest of the Nebraska panhandle Timing of the rain to snow transition for the blue circled areas on the image has been pushed to between 3 PM and 9 PM this afternoon/evening due to a slowing down of the system ----- 6PM 10/11 UPDATE - Winter Storm Warnings have been expanded to include the Arlington/Elk Mountain area, and the southern Laramie Range/I-80 summit. Expect rain changing to snow early Thursday morning in these areas with strong winds further reducing visibility. Winter Weather Advisories have also been issued for central and northern Carbon county, plus the central Laramie range and southwest Platte county. Rain will change to snow in Carbon county late tonight or early Thursday. Accumulating snow is also likely in the Saratoga and Laramie valleys. Over the high plains east of I-25, expect rain changing to snow above 4500 feet between roughly 12PM and 6PM Thursday. Strong WNW winds are expected Thursday morning for the I-80 summit and portions of Laramie county. Winds will become more northerly after 12PM tomorrow, and gusts of 50 to 60 MPH are possible along I-80 from the summit to Sidney, and further north in portions of the Nebraska panhandle. High Wind Watches are in effect for these areas.
