The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has posted Winter Storm Warnings for the Sierra Madre and Snowy Range mountains of southeast Wyoming.

The warning takes effect this afternoon and continues through the weekend.

The agency posted the following on its website:

''Winter Storm Warnings have been posted for the Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges from this afternoon through Sunday evening. West and northwest facing slopes could see as much as 3 feet of snow. Very strong winds are expected this weekend as well in the mountains, so visibility could be reduced to near zero at times. Hunters, hikers and snow mobilers will see a HIGH Risk of becoming disoriented and lost with these conditions.''

The agency also says strong winds are expected in a much larger area of southeast Wyoming that includes Cheyenne and Laramie:

Heads up on a prolonged and widespread high wind event setting up across southeast Wyoming this weekend into next week. High Wind Warnings are currently in effect for the Arlington/Elk Mountain area on Interstate 80 and the Bordeaux area on Interstate 25, from 5AM Saturday through 2AM Tuesday. High Wind Watches are in effect for the I-80 Corridor from the Nebraska state line to Laramie. These strong winds will undoubtedly impact travel, especially for light weight and high profile vehicles. Truckers with light loads and those towing camper trailers are particularly at risk of blow offs/blow overs. Stay tuned as watches will likely be upgraded to warnings soon.

Historic Victorian Mansions Around the U.S.

Most people either love them or hate them. To some, they evoke the charming, cute house from Disney's Lady & the Tramp. To others, they're creepy and haunted. But what makes this style stand out from others? Popularized during Queen Victoria's long reign (1837 to 1901), everything from fashion to furniture was influenced by rapid industrialization and urbanization. Victorians were a flex for middle and upper class families to flaunt their wealth.
