Rollover Crash in Lincoln County Leaves Pickup Driver Dead
A driver is dead after rolling their pickup in southwest Wyoming's Lincoln County, the Highway Patrol says.
The crash happened around 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, near milepost .5 on Wyoming 240, just north of Opal.
According to a fatality crash summary, 39-year-old Utah resident Alex Gill was behind the wheel of a southbound Ford pickup when they drifted off the west shoulder and overcorrected, causing the pickup to skid across the highway, go off the road, and roll multiple times.
Gill was not wearing a seat belt and died from their injuries.
Speed and driver inattention are listed as possible contributing factors.
This is the 76th fatality on Wyoming's highways in 2023 compared to 61 in 2022, 58 in 2021, 64 in 2020, and 96 in 2019 to date, and the ninth fatality in Lincoln County this year.
