Hearing Continued for Man Charged With Murder in Burns Shooting
A court hearing for a man accused of fatally shooting a man in Burns last month has been continued.
Tyler James Hill, 25, was scheduled to appear in Laramie County Circuit Court this (Friday) morning, but he waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing.
As of 10 a.m., a new hearing date had yet to be scheduled.
According to the Laramie County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to 4572 Teal Ln. at 1:23 p.m. on Aug. 23 and arrived to find 43-year-old Ashley Bartel shot to death.
The department says Hill fled in a red Mazda car, but Pine Bluffs Police Chief Austin Smith spotted him on Interstate 80 near Pine Bluffs shortly afterward, and he was stopped at County Road 159 and County Road 210 and taken into custody without further incident.
Hill was charged with second-degree murder the following day.
He's currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
