A motorcyclist is dead after crashing his bike on Interstate 80 in southeast Wyoming, the Highway Patrol says.

It happened around 5:32 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at milepost 220.1 near Sinclair.

According to a fatality crash summary, 55-year-old Colorado resident Mario Ramero was headed west when he went into the median, hit the cable barrier, and was thrown from his Harley-Davidson.

Ramero was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries.

The summary lists driver inattention as a possible contributing factor.

23rd Motorcycle Fatality

Ramero is the 84th reported person and the 23rd reported motorcyclist to die on Wyoming's highways this year.

According to fatal crash statistics from the Highway Patrol, the state saw 13 motorcycle fatalities in 2023, 20 in 2022, 15 in 2021, and 17 in 2020.
