A 23-year-old Cheyenne man has been arrested after a shooting on Saturday that left a 25-year-old Cheyenne man dead.

Police spokeswoman Alex Farkas says officers were called at about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of King Court.

"Upon arrival, officers found (Cortaevius Williams), who was the apparent victim of a gunshot wound," Farkas said in a news release.

"Officers began to administer first aid until medical personnel arrived," Farkas added. "(Williams) was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased."

Farkas says Williams had gotten into an argument with Antonio Navarrete in the parking lot of a local bar about an hour before the shooting, during which he allegedly smashed the windshield on Navarrete's vehicle.

She says Navarrete left the bar with a group of friends and returned home and Williams left separately.

"Following the disturbance, (Williams) went to Navarrete’s residence to collect personal belongings," said Farkas. "While there, another disturbance ensued, resulting in (Williams) being fatally shot."

"Other people were in proximity of the gunfire; however, no other injuries were reported," Farkas added.

Navarrete was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Farkas says the case remains under investigation.
