A 33-year-old Ault, Colorado woman is facing a felony charge after reportedly leading Cheyenne-area authorities on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

According to a booking sheet, a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling near mile marker 350 on eastbound Interstate 80, about eight miles west of Cheyenne, at 7:46 p.m. on July 25, 2024, following a report of a stolen car passing another deputy while he was transporting an unrelated arrestee when he spotted the stolen car.

High-Speed Chase Exceeds 100 MPH

The deputy says he followed the stolen car, a black Nissan Altima bearing stolen Colorado license plates, until a Wyoming Highway Patrol unit was in position to cover him and then initiated a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Kalah B. Giorno, attempted to elude him, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.

The deputy says Giorno made sudden lane changes and ran off the shoulder, nearly losing control while in heavy traffic.

Wyoming troopers took the primary and secondary positions in the pursuit, and shortly thereafter, the stolen car's right front wheel experienced a mechanical failure and Giorno was apprehended.

Giorno was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with felony theft and three misdemeanors, fleeing/eluding, suspended driver's license, and reckless driving.
