Hogan says the investigation led officers to David Robert Land, who is a registered sex offender.
According to the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry, Land was convicted of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor on May 8, 2015, and failure to register as a sex offender - first offense on Jan. 3, 2017.
"Investigators found numerous images of child sexual abuse material on Land’s phone," Hogan said in a press release.
Land was indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 14, 2023, on charges of access with intent to view child pornography - second offense and distribution of child pornography - second offense.
According to the indictment, the crimes happened between on or about March 15, 2023, and on or about Oct. 17, 2023, and on or about June 4, 2023.
Land pleaded guilty to access with intent to view child pornography on Jan. 16, 2024, and the other charge was dismissed.
In addition to the 97-month sentence, Land was also ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution.
Land will be subject to seven years of supervised release once he is released from prison.
