Cheyenne National Weather Service To Continue Forecasts, Weather Info
While many federal agencies are not operating due to the shutdown of the federal government, that doesn't apply to the National Weather Service's forecasting and weather information operations.
The includes the Cheyenne Office of the agency. The following was posted on the Cheyenne National Weather Service website:
"The U.S. government is closed. However, because the information this website provides is necessary to protect life and property, this site will be updated and maintained during the federal government shutdown"
The Cheyenne Office is in charge of forecasts for all of southeast Wyoming, including Albany County.
The agency's national website says the following:
"Due to the government shutdown, all public National Weather Service activities, including tours and other outreach activities, have been canceled or postponed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The NWS will continue to provide critical forecast, watch and warning information to protect life and property throughout the shutdown."
