2 Killed, 1 Injured in Separate Pickup Crashes on I-80 in Wyoming

Two people were killed and another injured in separate pickup crashes on Interstate 80 late last week, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

The first crash happened around 6:14 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23 around mile marker 186.2, about 13 miles east of Wamsutter.

According to a fatality crash summary, 41-year-old Oregon resident Jason Greer was behind the wheel of an eastbound Ford F-350 when he lost control of the pickup while driving too fast on the snow-covered, icy interstate, went into the ditch, and rolled it.

Greer was not wearing his seat belt and died from his injuries.

His passenger was also reportedly injured in the rollover, but the patrol did not say to what extent.

The second crash happened around 1:54 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at mile marker 47.4, near the Lyman; Mountain View; Bridger Valley exit.

The patrol says 73-year-old South Dakota resident Glenn Denton was headed east when he drifted off the interstate and into the median, where his GMC vaulted over the bank of the river before striking a bridge support in the river.

Denton was buckled up but died from his injuries.

The fatality crash summary lists driver fatigue/asleep as a possible contributing factor.

Greer and Denton are the 128th and 129th people to die on Wyoming's highways in 2023, compared to 122 in 2022, 107 in 2021, 119 in 2020, and 141 in 2019 to date; and the 32nd and 33rd people to die in I-80 crashes in the state so far this year.
