Out of the six championship races at the State Cross Country meet, only one produced a repeat titlist and that was Habtamu Wetzel from Star Valley. He has been remarkably consistent over the past couple of years as he won the 4A championship last year in 15.48.04 and this year his winning time was 15.48.30. The Braves also won repeated as the 4A team state champions. Wetzel also has excelled in track and field and is the defending 4A state champion in the 3200-meter run and finished 2nd in the 1600 at the State Track Meet.

Madison Antonino of Jackson was the 4A girls' state champion in 18.17.20 and she made great strides since last year when she took 2nd place at state. Antonino runs cross country for Jackson then competes for Pinedale in track & field. Last year, won the 3A 3200 meter run at the State Track Meet, took 2nd in the 1600 and 6th in the 800.

The sky appears to be the limit for these two athletes and we talk to both of them about their championship afternoon at the Cheyenne Country Club.
