The skies finally begin drying up, the temperatures begin rising into the 80s, and the City of Laramie and the Recreation Center are calling time on summer. With school starting next week, many lifeguards will be returning to classrooms instead of pacing the pool deck.

The wading pool at Washington Park had its final day in the sun last Sunday, Aug. 13.

The outdoor leisure pool at the recreation center closes this Friday, Aug. 18. The outdoor pool is open from noon to 5 p.m. each day this week, with the waterslide open from 1-4 p.m.

Undine Park’s splash pad is open for a little bit longer, with a final close date of Monday, Sept. 4. It is open 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily until close.

The indoor pool at the recreation center will be closed after Labor Day as well, to rehabilitate the leisure pool. The leisure pool’s play feature will be replaced with a new feature, and the tile and plaster in the pool. Recreation Center manager Jodi Guerin said the pool projects will take about a month to complete.

If you have time for aquatics between fall soccer, volleyball, flag and or tackle football, cross country, hockey, or dance, you’ll have to break out the sprinkler. To register for any of these fall activities, visit the City of Laramie’s Youth Sports page here
