Wyoming is a prime location for wildlife photographers to capture a once-in-a-lifetime photo. IF you're lucky enough to snap one of those, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has a prime opportunity for you to show it off, and it could score you a cash prize.

The 2025 Annual Wyoming Wildlife photo contest is underway, and you have until November 17 to get your submission, or submissions, in to be qualified to be crowned this year's winner.

The grand prize winner will receive $600, and prizes will be given to first, second, third, and honorable mention in four categories.

The four categories are:

  • Wildlife: Wild mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, and arthropods.
  • Scenic: Landmarks, scenery, or inanimate objects are prominent.
  • Recreation: People who are out enjoying the outdoors. They can be hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, or on another outdoor adventure.
  • Flora: Wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies, or other parts of plants.

The contest is a great way for photographers to showcase their skills, regardless of their level of experience.

To be eligible, there are a few things to be aware of:

  • You're allowed to submit up to 10 photos in any of the four categories.
  • The picture needs to be taken in Wyoming,
  • Needs to be an original that hasn't been submitted to the contest in years past.
  • The person submitting the photo must be the one who took it.
  • You can only submit the photo through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department Website.
  • The photo cannot use AI technology.

Get out and get snapping. When you're ready to submit photos, this link HERE is where you go on the WGFD.WYO.GOV website.
