I'm not telling you anything you don't already know when I say the winter of 2025-2026 has been weird. Record-high temperatures and record-low snowfall in parts of the state. I'll also say that the spring-like weather we've had for most of 2026 has people chomping at the bit to get out and take advantage of it.

It's not normal to try to decide between taking the boat out or breaking out the camping gear this time of year, but it's happening. Hiking, camping, side-by-side riding, horse rides, and other types of outdoor recreation are all options right now.

I was up on Casper Mountain this week, before the snow started falling today, and noticed a few new additions. If you're a frequent visitor to the mountain, you know that the last couple of years have been project-heavy, with roadwork and new construction, like the Casper Mountain Trails Center, to improve conditions for visitors who enjoy all seasons.

Not only are we trying to figure out how to take advantage of the weather we've been having, but crews are also hard at work to get things ready. I noticed a few new signs that had been added and caught my eye immediately.

I'm not saying that a big spring snowstorm won't hit us, and crews on the mountain will have to switch gears, but the way it's looking now, we'll all be up enjoying all the warm-weather activities the mountain has to offer before we know it. I hope you're already preparing for an eventful summer. Don't forget to get your Casper Mountain Trails Pass.
