LARAMIE -- The hits just keep on coming.

Wyoming guard Xavier DuSell Monday announced via Instagram that he will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. The tally is now up to seven as DuSell joins former teammates Ethan Anderson, Max Agbonkpolo, Jake Kyman, Noah Reynolds, Nate Barnhart and Jeremiah Oden.

Jeff Linder and Co. now have nine scholarships to fill after Hunter Maldonado and Hunter Thompson exhausted their eligibility.

DuSell, a junior guard, averaged eight points a game last season. More importantly, he was the only player on the roster to appear in all 31 games. Known for his lockdown defense, the Scottsdale, Ariz., product was tasked with shadowing the likes of Colorado State's Isaiah Stevens, Nevada's Kenan Blackshear and New Mexico's Jaelen House, among others.

"The fact that he's a guy that, all year long, especially once we got to conference play here, we have to put him on the other team's best guard," Linder said following a 70-56 upset over New Mexico inside The Pit in February. "So, he's having to expend the energy to guard Isaiah Stevens for 40 minutes, to guard (UNLV's) EJ Harkless for 40 minutes and to have to guard (New Mexico's) Jamal Mashburn Jr. for 40 minutes. Then, he has to turn around and have the ability to make shots."

DuSell scored 11 in that victory over the Lobos and sank three triples in the process.

The 6-foot-4, 199-pound shooting guard reached double figures 14 times during the 2022-23 campaign. His best outing came in a road blowout against Utah State where he finished with 21 points on 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.

During his three-year stint in Laramie, DuSell averaged 8.3 points a night to go along with 2.3 rebounds. He also shot 41.1 % from the field and nearly 40% from deep.

DuSell, who was listed as a three-star recruit after his senior season at Arizona Compass Prep, netted 14 points per outing and pulled down 4.2 rebounds. He also added 3.1 assists. DuSell received offers from New Mexico, UTEP, Montana, Northern Arizona, UW-Milwaukee and Idaho State out of high school.

When the 60-day transfer window cracked open a week ago today, Reynolds was the first to announce his departure. Seven-footer Barnhart wasn't far behind. The following day, Oden posted on social media that he would also be leaving the program. Sundance Wicks, a Wyoming assistant for the past three seasons under Linder, was named the new head coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay that same afternoon.

Anderson, Agbonkpolo and Kyman, all three Pac-12 transfers who came to UW in the offseason, left the team on Feb. 7 just hours before the Cowboys hosted UNLV.

To make matters even worse, Wyoming lost its lone recruit of the 2023-24 class. Makaiah Williams, a guard from Long Beach, Calif., announced in February that he wanted out of his National Letter of Intent.

The only current remaining scholarship players on the Wyoming roster are Graham Ike, Kenny Foster, Brendan Wenzel and Caden Powell. Wenzel and Foster are the only players to publicly state their intentions to return next season.

All Division-I programs can offer up to 13 scholarships.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
