LARAMIE -- If there was one serious black mark on Wyoming's 24-19 upset victory over 24th-ranked Fresno State Saturday night in Laramie, it was watching Harrison Waylee, with the aid of trainers, slowly make his way to the home sideline late in the fourth quarter.

The Cowboys star running back appeared to suffer a leg injury after being stopped for no gain with 1:53 remaining in regulation.

Craig Bohl said postgame he didn't know the severity, but added he received some "positive stuff."

"We're going to get some more definitive answers tomorrow, but the indication I got was nothing season ending," Wyoming's head coach said. "Premier Bone and Joint is on it and they're going to give us some more evaluation.

"We're in hopes that he'll be back for the Air Force game."

Waylee, a junior transfer from Northern Illinois, led the team in total yards from scrimmage Saturday night with 97, 83 of which came on 22 carries. He also caught two balls out of the backfield for 14 yards.

Offseason knee surgery cost Waylee the first two games of the season. In his debut, a tilt with then No. 3 Texas in Austin, he gashed the Longhorns for 110 yards on just 18 carries, including a 62-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

He eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground against Appalachian State and New Mexico, too, becoming the first UW running back to do that since Xazavian Valladay did it in five straight games back in 2019.

Waylee has 540 yards on 75 carries this fall. He has also added three touchdowns on the ground.

Quarterback Andrew Peasley was asked postgame if he had a chance to speak with Waylee yet. The senior signal caller said he was hoping to do just that in the locker room.

"He was doing better than when he came off the field," Peasley added. "So, that's good."

Waylee rolled up nearly 2,000 yards on the ground during his three seasons in DeKalb, including a career-best 899 last fall. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Johnston, Iowa product also found the end zone 11 times during his time stint in the Huskies' backfield.

If Waylee isn't available in next Saturday's meeting with Front Range rival Air Force, the Cowboys will turn to Jamari Ferrell and Sam Scott. Sophomore DQ James was dismissed from the team for unspecified reasons after the 22-19 win over App State in Week 4.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
