UW's Incoming President, Dr. Robert Sternberg, will be visiting the city of Laramie next week.

Dr. Sternberg is scheduled to visit UW Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26, to meet with university leaders, tour the campus and introduce himself to student and faculty representatives. He comes to Wyoming from Oklahoma State University, where he is provost and senior vice president,  he is also a professor of Psychology.

The in-coming UW president is scheduled to meet with current President Tom Buchanan and other leaders, including vice presidents, deans and directors during his visit next week. Sternberg and his wife, Karin, also are scheduled to tour the campus Monday afternoon. He is expected to meet with student body officers and then deliver brief remarks to the UW Faculty Senate at 4:30 p.m. Monday during the senate’s regular open meeting in the Wyoming Union Family Room.

The University of Wyoming has also announced that Sternberg plans to travel around Wyoming to meet with various constituents and citizens later this year.

Sternberg was tapped to become UW’s 24th president by the UW Board of Trustees amid controversy surrounding the University of Wyoming's search for a new president.  Critics objected to the search being conducted in secret, with the names of prospective candidates being kept from the public.  Despite a bill being passed in the most recent Wyoming legislative session allowing state colleges and universities to conduct such searches without having to disclose names of candidates, the University did announce the names of Sternberg and three others during the final leg of the search.

Sternberg will take office July 1.
