The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park will now be immortalized in a new stamp series to be released in 2012. Jim Wark of Pueblo, CO took the aerial photo of the spring and also took four other pictures that will be featured in the 15 stamp series.

The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park is one of the most well known images in the park next to Old Faithful. The geothermal spring is known for it's vibrant colors caused by microorganisms that live along the edges of the spring.

The Earthscapes stamp series will be released in 2012 and consists of 15 images. The images include urban, agriculture and natural scenes captured from airplane or satellite. 80 year old Jim Wark is a retired geologist and mining engineer. Wark had the privilege of submitting five of the images that will be used in the 15 image series. His other images are of a skyscraper, barge, butte and railroad cars.
