Governor Matt Mead has stepped up to the plate and and taken the lead a Republican effort in creating an energy policy. Governor Mead spoke about his plan at the Wyoming Natural Gas Fair in Jackson yesterday.

According to the Casper Star Tribune Governor Mead said the idea came out of a Republican Governors Association meeting held in Philadelphia this week. The new energy policy plan will deal with balancing development with the environment. The plan would also oppose any moves made placing one branch of energy against another.

Besides spearheading the creation of an energy police the governor will be sending President Barack Obama a letter requesting a meeting with Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Mead wants to address the importance of affordable energy. In a showing of their support almost a dozen governors have signed Governor Mead's letter to President Obama.
