It's the first day of summer and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department wants to remind people to leave newborn wildlife alone. Around Wyoming it's hard not to spot wildlife of some sort and now that the warmer weather is here that just means there is a possibility of encountering wildlife with their newborns.

There have already been two reports of people picking up fawn deer and confining them. In response to the reports game wardens had to take the fawns to a Sybille research facility where they will not be allowed to roam free again.

It is illegal to possess or adopt game and non-game animals according to state and federal laws. One citation has already been issued that carries a possible fine of $1,000.

If a child is responsible for bringing home a wild animal, state wildlife officials say to return it immediately to the exact spot where it was found.

If you need to report any wildlife issues or concerns contact the Wyoming Game and Fish by calling 307-777-4600. You may also go to their website.
