Several free and low-cost screenings will be offered during a public health fair scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the West Atrium of Ivinson Memorial Hospital. This health fair is open to the public and there is no entry fee for admission.

Some screenings that will be provided at no cost include blood pressure, osteoporosis, vascular disease, and pulmonary function.

Blood screenings will be offered at the low cost of $35 and include chemistry panel, lipid panel, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) test, and complete blood count (CBC) test. Those wishing to take advantage of the blood screenings should plan to fast for 12 hours before the event unless they have been advised otherwise by their physician.

A prostate specific-antigen (PSA) test for prostate cancer screening is available for men at a reduced rate of $15.

There will be other activities available at no cost during this community health fair. These include healthy cooking recipes, healthy snacks, chair massages, and more.

The staff at Ivinson encourages community members to take advantage of these screenings.
