
Former Cowgirl Soccer Player Killed in Accident
The Wyoming Cowgirl soccer family has lost a loved one, and it happened Christmas Eve in Colorado.
Sancy Shaw, 38, was killed on I-70 Monday night when her vehicle was struck by another near Genesee according to the report from CBS4-TV in Denver. The crash closed I-70 in both directions for about five hours.
Shaw’s six-year-old daughter was also involved in the accident and suffered serious injuries, but was expected to recover.
Shaw, then Sancy Florquist, played soccer for the Wyoming Cowgirls from 1998-2001. She was coached by Liza Grant and Anne Moore.
Shaw is survived by her husband and four children. She was a teacher and coach at North Routt Charter School in Steamboat Springs, CO.
