Local law enforcement agencies will be collecting unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The Laramie County Sheriff's Office will be at the Safeway at 700 S. Greeley Highway and Laramie County Fire District #2 at 5800 N. College from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The purpose of the Drug Take Back program is for citizens of Laramie County to safely dispose of any type of prescription drugs or any other non-narcotic drugs that they have," said Captain Linda Gesell.
"That way they don't throw them in their garbage for other people to take, flush them down the toilet or put them down the disposal," she added.
Gesell says no illegal drugs, sharps, thermometers, oxygen containers, radioactive materials, pressurized canisters or chemotherapy drugs will be accepted.
Since the program's inception a decade ago, the Laramie County Sheriff's Office has taken in over 2,100 pounds of unwanted drugs.
