Damage to equipment at a Laramie substation was the source of a power outage early Tuesday in the Gem City.

According to Rocky Mountain Power spokesperson Margaret Oler, the power went out at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday and affected some 9,660 customers throughout Laramie.

Oler said that their workers arrived on scene in 23 minutes to assess the situation.

At approximately 7:47 a.m., some customers' power was restored, but over 5,300 were still without.

After crews were able to make more repairs, power was fully restored in a two-step process at 10:18 and 10:19 a.m.

Oler also stated that Rocky Mountain Power is trying to trace the exact cause of the outage, thus it remains under investigation.
