The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will open up the 2014 Mountain West season at home against the Nevada Wolf Pack. The game is set for Saturday, January 4, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Live stats, audio and video can be found through the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on the www.gowyo.com website. The Cowgirls were picked to finish second the MW preseason poll, while the Wolf Pack were selected tenth.

Wyoming finished the non-conference schedule with a 9-2 overall mark and head into the contest riding a five-game winning streak.Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.0 points plus 7.1 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 15.4 points and a team high 9.0 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 13.8 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.4 assists plus 8.4 points per game.

As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 289-689 (.419) from the field while averaging 42.2 rebounds and 74.4 points per game. The Cowgirls are second in the league in field goal and three-point percentage, assists and third in scoring defense.

Nevada enters the week with a 6-6 overall and a 1-0 mark in MW play. Last time out, they defeated San Jose State, 101-74. They are led by Danika Sharp who is averaging a team high 14.0 points along with 4.8 rebounds. Emily Burns is adding a team high 7.6 rebounds plus 7.7 points per contest. They return four starters and 11 letterwinners to a team that went 8-23 overall and 2-14 in the MW last year.

This will be 17th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 10-4. The last time the two teams met was February 13, 2013 as the Cowgirls defeated the Wolf Pack, 66-65, in Reno. They are coached by Jane Albright who is in her sixth season with the program.
