Cowgirl Volleyball Hosts Second Home Tournament [VIDEO]
Wyoming volleyball returns home Friday and Saturday to host the UniWyo Invite in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
Wyoming (5-1) is coming off a 2-1 weekend in Portland, OR. The Cowgirls swept their first and third opponents, LIU-Brooklyn and Montana State, but lost to the host Portland Pilots in a five-set match, which gave UW its first loss of the season.
Coming in this weekend is Binghamton (0-6), Arizona State (5-1) and Murray State (4-2) for two full days of volleyball.
Senior middle blocker Reed Copeland and head coach Chad Callihan looked ahead to this big weekend.
Wyoming leads the MW and is No. 10 in the nation in team hitting percentage at .291. The Cowgirls are second in the conference and 41st in the country in opponent hitting percentage, as they allow only .151.
The Cowgirls have also done a nice job early in the season of spreading the offense around. Seven different Wyoming players have 35 or more kills and five are at 44 or more. Junior Tara Traphagan leads UW with 56 this season.
Wyoming plays the Bearcats at noon Friday followed by a 7 p.m. showdown against the Sun Devils Friday night. They conclude the tournament versus the Racers on Saturday at 1 p.m.
