Nine innings, 13 strikeouts and 150 pitches gave right-handed pitcher Devon Brogan the win he missed out on last week against the Cheyenne Grizzlies. Laramie Colts coach Marty Berson pulled Brogan seven innings and 13 strikeouts into last week's game when Laramie was up 11-4, only to have the team collapse and lose 12-11 in extra innings. There was no pulling Brogran on Tuesday night at Cowboy Field and the Colts got the win over the Grizzlies 6-3.

"I actually went up to (Coach Berson) after the seventh and told him that I was going to finish the game and I didn't want him to put anyone else in, so I went in and did my job."
-Devon Brogan

Brogan credited a recent change to his curve ball for his success on Tuesday night, since his fastball didn't have the same velocity as last week. In the Hutchinson Community College freshman's complete game he allowed 9 hits and only 2 earned runs.

The Grizzlies kept the game tight, tying the game at 3 apiece in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded and 2 outs, Brogan struck out Weston Lewis to bring the Colts up to bat. Laramie then took the lead for good by scoring Will Pierce and Max Price.

"This is becoming a very, very good team and they're just going to get better. The cream will rise to the top."
-Coach Marty Berson

Offensively the Colts were led by first baseman Will Pierce with three hits and two runs. Third baseman Dominick Robusto finished the game with just 1 hit but 3 RBI's on a sac fly, groundout and single. Outfielder Anthony Razo also had a good night with 2 hits and 2 RBI's.

Cheyenne started Tyler Stefan on the mound and he took the loss. He went 6.0 innings, had 2 strikeouts, and gave up 7 hits. Brock Jacobo pitched in relief and the Colts got 3 hits off him and 1 earned run.

The win puts Laramie (5-5) just a half game behind Cheyenne (6-5) in the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League standings. The Colts will be at home again on Thursday when they play the Ft. Collins Foxes at 6:35 p.m. at Cowboy Field.
