There will be a Hunter Education Internet Field Day from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Cody Shooting Complex for students who have completed the online Hunter Education coursework available on the Game and Fish website.

The online course is designed for working adults who may have scheduling problems that make attending a traditional hunter education class difficult or impossible.  The cost of the field day is $10, cash only and participants are encouraged to bring a snack and a writing instrument.

Wyoming Game and Fish Information and Education Specialist Tara Teaschner says “The online option is not recommended for children, however, that decision is up to parents..."

In order to complete the online course and obtain a Hunter Education Certificate, the student is required to attend an Internet Field Day.”

The field day will consist of an entrance exam, ethics training, a final 50-question written exam, and a hands-on gun handling field test. Students must bring all completed Wyoming and International Hunter Education Association Internet quizzes (18 quizzes in all) to the field day and pass an entrance exam to participate.

The Cody Shooting Complex is located at 61 County Road 7WC in Cody and anyone interested in registering for the course can do so online at http://gf.state.wy.us ; and clicking on the Education/Hunter Education option.
