Living in Wyoming, we all know that our state would not have comparable prosperity were it not for the mining industry. Despite all the money and opportunity the industry brings into our state however, to many of us, it remains an unknown and foreign world. The amount of money produced, the amount of jobs created, the names of the people in charge- these are all things that are largely unknown to many of us in the state.

For some of you out there- you may not want to know many specific details of Wyoming's natural resources industry, but for those of you who are interested in keeping track of what is going on in the mining industry of Wyoming, you may want to read on, to find out about a major personnel shift that could have a huge impact on the coal industry in Wyoming.

Yesterday, Cloud Peak Energy, one of the largest U.S. coal producers and the only pure-play Powder River Basin coal company, announced that Patrick Condon had been named a new member of the Cloud Peak Energy Board of Directors. Condon will additionally serve the company as a member of the Audit Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board.

Condon is a retired partner and currently a consultant to Deloitte & Touche LLP. He joined Deloitte & Touche in 2002, where he provided various consulting and attest services to clients until his retirement in 2011. Condon also held a number of regional and national leadership roles within Deloitte & Touche. Condon worked for Arthur Andersen LLP from 1970 to 2002, providing various consulting and attest services. Condon earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Accounting from John Carroll University and is a certified public accountant.

Pat has a strong and diverse background that includes leading audit and consulting engagements at large companies in the energy and other industries and leading established operating units and shared services organizations in professional services firms.
