Alright Pokes fans: tonight could be historic.

The Cowboys have their work cut out for them at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night, hosting 5th-ranked San Diego State.  This, however, is truly an example of how fans can help their team.  A loud, rowdy, chaotic atmosphere has always been the great equalizer in college hoops.

Recall 16 years ago nearly to the date (Febraury 12, 1998) when Wyoming defeated #5 Utah 62-56 thanks in large part to a great crowd.  Beating the 5th ranked team in the nation could happen again tonight, but turning the Double-A back into the Dome of Doom is a must.

San Diego State enters tonight's contest 21-1, 10-0 in the Mountain West Conference.  The only loss was to national powerhouses Arizona way back on November 14.  Since then they have won at Kansas, beat Creighton and Marquette at a tournament, Washington at home, and steamrolled through conference play thus far.

Wyoming is 14-9 overall and 5-5 in conference play.  The Pokes five conference losses have seen two overtime battles with New Mexico, a two point loss at UNLV, at three point loss at Nevada, and a five point loss at Fresno State.  The point? Wyoming is a much better than a 9-loss team looks on paper.

So, here's an open plea from one Cowboy fan to another.  If you can make tonight's game, by all means, please grab some caffeine and a couple friends. The louder you are tonight, the better. If the Cowboys can pull off an upset tonight, being groggy at work or school Wednesday morning will be worth the memory.

Don't forget to wear white for the "White Out"--and show up early! The first 3,000 in the doors get a free white t-shirt.
