A bill that would require anyone voting in Wyoming to present a current, valid photo identification has been proposed in the Wyoming legislature.

The current requirements for voting in Wyoming include the following, according to the Wyoming Secretary of State website.

  • "Present a valid Wyoming Driver License if you have one and if not; provide the last four digits of your Social Security Number. (If you have neither, please indicate this on the Voter Registration Application form.)"

But House Bill 192, sponsored by Rep. Chuck Gray (R-Natrona County) would specifically mandate that anyone casting a ballot on Wyoming would need to present photo identification verifying their identity before casting a ballot. Those voting by mail would be required to submit a copy of their photo ID the first time after they register.

The bill has been assigned to the House Corporations, Elections, and Political Subdivisions Committee, which has yet to act on the proposal.
