A five kilometer race in Laramie this Saturday, September 27 will help to provide food to families in need.

The Albany County CattleWomen (formerly Cow-Belles) have partnered with Interfaith-Good Samaritan to host the Beefy 5K. Proceeds from the race will be used to purchase approximately 1000 pounds of beef. The meat will then go to about 500 individuals from Albany County. This includes about 260 households.

The race begins at 10 a.m. with same day registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Walkers, strollers, and dogs are all welcome at the event. The race takes place at Optimist Park and the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail on West Garfield Street.

If you have not already registered for the race, the registration fee is $30 the day of the event.

The Interfaith-Good Samaritan cooperates with other organizations and agencies to provide assistance to women, men and children in emergency situations when no other help is available. They operate a food bank which serves about 5000 people per month, and the food commodities, which is what the race will be supporting. Food commodities feeds about 500 people.

If you would like to make a donation, please make the check payable to Albany County Cow-Belles and put Beefy 5K in the memo line.
