Trey Kell scored 24 points and the San Diego State Aztecs won the Mountain West regular season title with a 73-61 victory at Wyoming Wednesday night.

Kell scored nine points on three Aztec possessions in the final 1:42 of the first half. That propelled San Diego State to a 41-33 halftime advantage. Wyoming pulled within five points on four different occasions in the last 21 minutes, but failed to get closer. Kell’s fourth 3-pointer with 1:47 left finished the Pokes.

UW struggled with 12 turnovers that San Diego State scored 20 points off of. The Cowboys also went only 11-of-19 at the foul line.

Wyoming (13-16, 6-10) was led by Josh Adams with 27 points. Jason McManamen was held to ten points. The Pokes shot 46.5 percent from the field and went 10-of-26, 38.5 percent, from deep.

San Diego State (21-7, 14-1) had two other players in double figures. Winston Shepard scored 14 points, while Jeremy Hemsley added 13. The Aztecs shot 42 percent from the field, which included 43 percent, 9-for-21, beyond the arc. They also had a 37-28 advantage on the glass.

The Cowboys will play their final regular season road game at UNLV Saturday night. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. start, Mountain Time.
