LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The discovery of arrowheads, pottery pieces and animal bones in the southern Laramie Valley has archaeologists planning to go back for more work.

Wyoming State Archaeologist Spencer Pelton says it's one of the largest collections of prehistoric ceramics ever found in Wyoming. Archaeologists previously dug at the site in the 1960s but never wrote a report about that excavation.

The landowner told state officials about the earlier dig and archaeologists decided to go back. The Laramie Boomerang reports they worked at the site for about 10 days in mid-June.

Their finds also included a surprising number of artifacts from the 1860s, including shell cartridges.
