One of the main backers of a failed proposal to expand the role of Wyoming district court commissioners isn't interested in trying to pass it again.

State Rep. Keith Gingery (R- District 23, Fremont/Teton County) was one of the main sponsors of a bill that led to Amendment C. It would have allowed commissioners to hear and make recommendations on cases when district judges were busy.

The Associated Press reports Gingery said it took three years of work to get it on the ballot. He's not interested in pursuing that again but said someone else may try in a couple of years.

He thinks backers did a poor job of explaining to voters what the amendment would do.

Amendment C was the only one of three statewide amendments that didn't pass.
