Albany County School District #1 has a new assistant superintendent of personnel and quality learning. Taking the position of assistant superintendent  is Mike Hamel, a long time principle, teacher and coach as well as Wyoming Native.

After years of loyal service to the city of Laramie and the Albany County School District Mike Bowman has taken the position of superintendent of Fremont County School District #1 in Lander, WY. Mike Hamel who has spent many years as a teacher and principle is now stepping into the administrative roll.

Hamel who is a native of Green River,WY also graduated from the University of Wyoming. He spent several years teaching high school math and science, coached football and wrestling and also spent time teaching and coaching in Alaska.

Mike Hamel made the move to Laramie from Cheyenne. He spent time working at Johnson Junior High School before helping open South High School. Now that he's in Laramie he'll be taking on an administrative roll. During his first year his goals are to learn how the school district works and to keep an eye out for things he can improve.
