ACSO Investigating “Terroristic Threats” in Ft. Sanders Evacuation

Bomb teams were called out Thursday morning to a Laramie towing company's vehicle storage yard, after reports were received that a vehicle on the premises was possibly rigged with explosives.

According to the Albany County Sheriff's Office, multiple agencies responded to the area of Ft. Sanders Road and West Blackfoot Street in Albany County, just South of Laramie, after 10:00 am, Thursday.

A.C.S.O., University of Wyoming Police Department's bomb detection K-9 team, Wyoming Highway patrol and the Rural Response Team #3 (which is comprised of Bomb technicians from the Laramie Police Department) as well as an Engine and ambulance with the Laramie Fire department were on hand during the incident.

Officials report that "numerous areas of concern both on the interior and exterior of the vehicle" and an evacuation area around the scene was expanded, including some residences and businesses.

A.C.S.O. reported in an email that "over 4 hours later the vehicle was finally deemed safe by the bomb technicians after they had slowly disabled areas of concern."

Currently the case is being investigated as "terroristic threats" and is ongoing.

Albany County Sheriff David O'Malley is calling the incident "a terrific team effort" by all first responders.

The Sheriff's Office went on to thank all of the citizens affected, saying "their cooperation by evacuating the area, was our utmost concern and their safety our priority."
