Absentee Voting Open

Absentee voting is now open for Wyoming’s primary election.

The period for absentee voting is 40 days and began yesterday, July 10. Absentee voting ends on August 18, which is the day before the primary election.

Any qualified voter in Wyoming can request an absentee ballot at any time of the year in which the election is held, but not the day of the election, according to the Wyoming Secretary of State website. Voters can vote in person at the county clerk’s office or by mail within 40 days of the election.

“Wyoming offers ‘no excuse’ absentee voting. This means that any registered voter can call their county clerk and request that an absentee ballot is mailed to them, or they can go to the clerk’s office and vote there,” said Secretary of State Max Maxfield.

Wyoming is one of only 27 states that allows any voter to vote absentee without providing an excuse.

According to the Albany County Clerk’s website, any eligible registered voter can request an absentee ballot by visiting their office at the courthouse, by calling them at 307-721-2546, or by filling out an online absentee request form.

Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance to give them enough time for the voter to receive the ballot through the mail, vote, and return it. All ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Ballots must be returned in person or mailed to the Albany County Clerk’s Office at 525 Grand Ave, Suite 202, Laramie, WY 82070. The state of Wyoming does not allow ballots to be returned via e-mail of fax.
