A Laramie woman was choked and cut at the Gas Lite Motel this past weekend. Prosecutors say on Dec. 1st, 47-year-old Larry Guajardo and 37-year-old Donna Perez were sharing a motel room. Investigators say Guajardo accused Perez of having sexual relations with another male.

Guajardo became agitated and began calling Perez derogatory names, then a physical altercation took place. Prosecutors say Guajardo forced Perez to the bedroom and began choking her. Perez claimed that she tried to scream, but was unable. Perez told police she almost lost consciousness.

During the altercation, officers say Guajardo grabbed a knife, threatened to kill her, and cut Perez’s left arm. She was able to call 911, but Guajardo disconnected the call. Dispatchers determined the call was violence-related and located the source of the cell phone signal

Police were lead to the area of the Ranger Lounge at 463 N. 3rd, then determined the call originated from the Gas Lite Motel.

Larry Guajardo was arrested and charged with strangulation of a household member,aggravated assault and battery and interference with an emergency call.

If convicted of all charges, Guajardo could face a maximum of 15 years,6 months and a $750 fine . His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11th. While on the scene, officers discovered that Donna Perez had an outstanding warrant for felony theft; she was arrested as well.
